About the author:
Ben Traywick was a chemist by trade and was interested in history from childhood.  Both of his great-grandfather ‘s served in the Civil War and when visiting Tombstone from his home in California he discovered that he had found the place he wanted to be.  So he went back to California, quit his job, sold his ranch and moved to the infamous old west town of Tombstone, the town “Too Tough To Die”.  Getting a job at the Apache Powder Plant in St. David he worked his way up to General Manager and retired in 1983 which enabled him lots of time to visit all the historical locations and research the history of the area.  Ben helped form the group of performers “The Wild Bunch” in 1972 and played Wyatt Earp for 20 years before turning the roll over to his son.

Ben has written numerous magazine and newspaper articles and over 36 books and/or pamphlets.  He still writes articles for the local newspaper “The Tombstone Epitath” and is planning to write more books.  John Henry, a biography of Doc Holliday is the favorite book that he has written thus far as he was born and raised just 100 miles north of Doc’s hometown.  Ben served as Tombstone, Arizona’s official historian for 39 years until he “retired” from that position.
